Renovation Project
Supporting the Restoration of the Church of the Holy Family
The restoration and conservation work on the Church of the Holy Family in Kiltimagh is progressing well and is expected to be completed in 2025. The project, which began in the summer of 2023, has been a significant undertaking, with an initial estimated cost of over €500,000.
The architects have provided an update on the progress so far:
- The external stonework at the front of the building has been repointed, and the barge stones have been reinstated.
- The main gable’s lime render has been completed and painted.
- The reroofing of both pitched and flat roofs is finished, with the aluminium roof-light set to be installed shortly.
- The external stone of the porch is being cleaned, and scaffolding will be removed by mid-December.
Inside the church, work continues:

- Restoration of the porch, sacristy, and St Joseph’s Chapel is well underway.
- The first fix of the electrical and mechanical installations is complete.
- The old staircase has been removed, and the space adapted for a new one, due to arrive in early December.
- Plastering of the entrance porch and arches is ongoing, with finishing coats being applied.
- Dry-lining of the sacristy and St Joseph’s Chapel is progressing, with skim-coating to follow.
Further work includes the installation of glazed screens, doors, and new furniture, which have been ordered and will be among the final elements fitted. The removal of the existing organ has revealed areas of the wall and floor in need of repair, which is now being addressed.
This project is a major investment in the future of our parish church, ensuring that it remains a welcoming and well-maintained place of worship. The generosity of those who have supported the work so far has been invaluable, and as we approach the final stages, any further support is greatly appreciated.
